Junior Editor / Proofreader application
Junior Editor / Proofreader position will be appropriate for PhD students and Postdocs who want to learn more about the journal editing process.
What is a Junior Editor position?
At ESR Journal, we want to help researchers gain an understanding of the editorial process, by experience, from an early stage in their careers. The Junior Editor will perform basic technical checks of the submitted manuscript and together with the Academic Editors will oversee the peer review process for the journal, including evaluating submissions, selecting reviewers and assessing their comments, and making editorial decisions.
What is a Proofreader position?
ESR Journal Proofreaders will be responsible for reviewing submissions which have already been approved for publication through the peer review process. They will be responsible for proofreading submissions and performing basic copyediting tasks. For this position applicants must have native or near-native fluency in English, reading comprehension skills and a solid grasp of grammar, vocabulary and punctuation.
Why should I apply for a Junior Editor / Proofreader position at ESR Journal?
If you are a PhD candidate or a Postdoc you should be looking for some first-hand experience in more senior academic roles. It’s good to improve your own understanding of the academic system, as well as good for your CV. As a Junior Editor / Proofreader at ESR Journal you’ll gain experience in manuscript reviewing and publishing processes, in an environment that will help to advance your editorial skills.
